Here are the services you may receive at the service of counseling to the elderly and their families:

Counsel and assistance in rights take-up

The volunteer will help the elderly in taking up his rights with the National Insurance, with explanation and guidance on other services in the community and realizing the benefits to which he is entitled.

Emotional support

In periods of transition and crisis, when changes occur in the personal, functional, familial and social situation, such as: going on retirement, decrease in functioning and widowhood. 

Information on various topics

Such as services in the community and leisure activities.

Telephone service

A telephone service is given in the following ways:

Initiated telephone calls

Offered to senior citizens in situations of transition and crisis (such as widow/widowers, people in nursing situation defined as isolated), as well as those in advanced age (90 and older), to know about their situations and offer them the appropriate assistance.

Weekly social telephone calls on a regular basis

The elderly who are isolated and homebound and are in need of a regular contact, can receive social conversation calls from a volunteer, if they wish so.

Public reception at branches of the National Insurance

The service of the branch is provided in a warm atmosphere. The volunteer offers a listening ear to the elderly, helps him in completing forms, with the process of taking up his rights, provides him with relevant information about his rights and other services in the community according to his needs and situation.

One-time first home visits

Taking place at the home of the elderly to help them in the take-up of their rights, to give them information, and identify situations of danger and neglect.

Regular social visits

The volunteers visit the elderly who are isolated and homebound and maintain with them a regular contact, to give them a sense of belonging and friendship to mitigate their feeling of solitude.

Information days

The service holds information days for various population groups, such as:

  • Information days for new retirees, which offer information about their rights with the National Insurance, about services in the community, as well as options of leisure activities.
  • Information days for widows and widowers, which offer information about their rights with the National Insurance and first assistance.

Support groups

Support groups are organized for populations in situations of transition, loss and crisis, such as support groups for widows and widowers, spouses of a person eligible for long-term care benefits, and more.

The groups are headed by professionals, and help participants in coping with situations of transition, loss and crisis.
